What skills and experience we're looking for
About the role:
We are looking
for a well-qualified, passionate languages teacher, with a commitment to
continuing professional development, to join our highly successful and
dedicated Modern Languages Faculty. The successful candidate will be expected
to teach up to and including G.C.S.E. A level may also be available. You will
work with an extremely supportive, innovative MFL Faculty. Up take for
languages is high with at least 60% of Years 10 and 11 studying one at
G.C.S.E. In 2025 French achieved 65.08%
grades 9-7.

suit an ECT or experienced practitioner.

The Faculty
This
highly motivated and hard-working faculty has seven members of staff, led by an
experienced and extremely successful Head of Faculty.
The successful
applicant would be joining a forward looking and supportive team which has
achieved considerable academic success in recent years. The faculty is
represented at Bridge Academy Trust and whole-school meetings, and each faculty
member is encouraged to take an active part in faculty, Trust, whole-school,
county and national initiatives.
The faculty is
also committed to teacher training in MFL. It has been an active member of the
Mid-Essex School-Centred Initial Teacher Training scheme for many years
Uptake for languages at Moulsham is strong with around 60% of each cohort in Years 10 and 11 taking either French or Spanish GCSE. A level is offered each year in both languages.
Curriculumn
Year 7 are
allocated six hours a fortnight of either French or Spanish which they continue
with throughout Years 8 and 9. The most able, accelerated groups in Year 7, 8
and 9 (1A) study both languages (three hours per language per fortnight) until
the end of Key Stage 3.
At Key Stage 4
each language option has six lessons of teaching a fortnight. The Examination
Board specification followed is AQA.
Resources
Teaching is
supplemented by a wide range of resources, both paper based and
interactive. There are subscriptions to
Linguascope, Teachit, Twinkl, Frenteacher.net, Exampro, Languagenut and
Sentence Builders. Staff actively share resources and an area on the school
network is used for this purpose.
The department
has six classrooms situated together in the attractive setting of the Old
School. Each classroom is equipped with
a smartscreen. All members of staff have a laptop so that they can make full
use of the technology available to support their teaching.
The MFL
department also has access to a bookable ICT room which is shared with the
Maths Faculty.
Enrichment
The faculty offers a wide range of extra-
curricular activities, including trips to the BFI for post-16 students and
residential visits to Paris, Madrid and Valencia. There are also such house
competitions as the International Bake-Off and after school languages clubs.
