The school has a key focus on staff well-being with numerous initiatives in place to support this. They include time for planning off-site for all teachers, active sessions in school and many more. We place significant emphasis on working collegiately as a staff to share our expertise and subsequently enhance the learning experience with our students. Every member of the staff is involved in a variety of professional learning programmes that take place every Wednesday across the academic year. All teachers are members of the Chartered College of Teaching providing access to the latest evidence and research.

Ethical leadership is at the core of all decision making at Southfield. We are very proud to be a Pathfinder School; a programme established jointly by ASCL and the National Governors’ Association that recognises and supports schools that adopt ethical practices. As such, staff are valued, treated with respect and afforded a diverse range of opportunities that come with professional trust.

We have implemented a bespoke leadership programme enabling staff to develop their knowledge and understanding of leadership. This has provided a number of promotional opportunities for staff within the school. Wherever possible, we will promote from within our school. We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, highly motivated and innovative teacher of French. French is offered at all three key stages with just over half the cohort at KS4 being entered for French GCSE and a growing group continuing their study at KS5. This successful department is a friendly, hard-working team, committed to stimulating students’ interest and enjoyment in their studies. This is a vibrant department with a team ethos of collaborative planning. The successful candidate will be able to teach throughout all key stages with support for A Level teaching provided. Although, this role has no TLR attached to it, as the school is growing and expanding, there may be the possibility of further responsibilities in the future. The post will start in September 2022. We welcome applications from NQTs.
