What skills and experience we're looking for
This exciting opportunity will suit a candidate who has the following qualities, knowledge and skills:
- Honours degree or equivalent, in a Geography related subject (2:2 or above)
- Qualified teacher status
- Enthusiastic and outstanding classroom practitioner, to be able to teach Geography up to GCSE standard
- To be able to teach Geography at KS3 and KS4
- Full working knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements for Geography
- Be able to work as a member of a team
- Be committed to ensuring that every pupil is given the opportunity to achieve their potential and meet the high expectations set for them
- Take responsibility for personal and professional development and to keep up to date with research and development in both subject and teaching pedagogies
- To be able to assist in the planning and organisation of school trips/visits
- Ability to foster and maintain collaborative working relationships and the sharing of good practice
- Ability to manage time effectively and deal with conflicting priorities
- Develop and implement policies and practices which reflect the school’s commitment to high achievement
- To be able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff, parents and member of the community
- Good organisational skills
