Teacher of Geography job summary
Icknield High School is a highly successful multi-cultural 11-16 Academy, situated on the northern side of town. We are justifiably proud of our excellent reputation and believe that we offer both students and staff a caring environment in which they can succeed.
We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, ambitious and motivated full-time Geography Teacher to join our team, teaching high quality lessons and contributing to the wider development of the department.
Our well-developed Geography curriculum is based around six themes; human, physical, skills, biomes, weather & climate and places. Students explore the interactions between these key themes as they progress through our well-resourced and developed curriculum. Students show a high level of interest in the subject and Geography is one of our most popular option subject choices, with over 150 students taking it as a GCSE option each year.
Our friendly and committed team of geography teachers have a passion for ensuring a relevant and up to date geography curriculum. Fieldwork is valued within the department and is included within our curriculum at KS3 and KS4, alongside further enrichment such as participation in local conferences and educational visits.
The successful candidate will have a passion for Geography, be able to display and promote excellence in teaching and learning, and have the potential to make a real difference to the outcomes of our students. A willingness to teach a second humanities subject at KS3 would be beneficial.
We would welcome enquiries requesting further information and/or visits to the school. Please contact Mrs Freeman, PA to the head teacher, telephone 01582 576561 or e-mail tfreeman@icknield.beds.sch.uk . Alternatively, please visit our web site www.icknield.beds.sch.uk
