Teacher of Geography job summary

As part of The Wensum Trust, we believe that our shared duty is to help every child to develop into high achieving, confident, healthy, caring and resilient members of their family and community. We want our schools to be healthy environments where both children and staff can develop and where strong, positive relationships are key. Our school, therefore, practices a relational approach with children, our families and our communities. We are particularly interested in working with people who share Our Qualities; who will work effectively and flexibly as part of a team.

Alderman Peel High School is a high performing 11-16 secondary school with just over 600 students on roll. We have high standards regarding student behaviour and quality of teaching, while also placing a high priority on staff and student well-being. We were last inspected in April 2022 and were judged to be a good school with Outstanding personal development. Since this time, there has been further school improvement with many aspects of the school now regarded as 'Strong' or 'Exceptional'. Visits to the school are welcome and encouraged.

Based in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and positioned near the North Norfolk Coast, it is a Geography teachers' dream role. This role presents a unique opportunity to have autonomy to design new schemes of learning and make the curriculum your own. The successful candidate would be well-supported by an experienced Head of Faculty as part of a strong and collegiate MFL and Humanities Faculty. The role would require delivery of the Geography national curriculum at KS3 and GCSE specification at KS4, with Geography featuring as a popular option for students.

Being a part of The Wensum Trust’s family of schools offers employees unique experiences to work alongside our strategic partners and to collaborate with a wider network of staff. We believe in investing in employees as individuals, by providing training opportunities that help to develop both existing and new skill sets, to encourage career progression at all levels.

We value our staff and are committed to supporting their wellbeing. We have a School Advisory Service (SAS) package which all staff can access 24 hours a day. The SAS package provides counselling services, legal information and guidance, physiotherapy services and online resources such as nutrition diaries, healthy eating plans, personal coaching questionnaires and tools and fitness programmes.

We care about bringing together the most able people, to help us achieve our vision of providing a rounded education for children, quality support for their families and opportunities to enrich our communities.
