What skills and experience we're looking for
To cover maternity leave, the school is looking to appoint a highly effective teacher of Geography and PE. It is an opportunity for either an established or emerging teacher to learn from excellence within and beyond the humanities and PE faculties, teaching approximately 50% in both subjects.
Geography
- The position would involve teaching at key stage 3 and 4 and possibly A-level for the right candidate. Year 7 and 8 geography is taught in mixed prior-attainment classes. Very few lessons in the faculty are based on textbooks alone and there is a strong emphasis on ‘ratio’ (student participation) through a variety of well codified teaching strategies across the faculty. The geography department prides itself on the love of its subject and the motivation we have to make students’ lessons interesting, dynamic and challenging for all abilities.
PE
- The role will involve teaching Core PE at KS3
and KS4, with the potential opportunity to teach GCSE or NCFE exam groups at
KS4.
-
It would be advantageous to the department if an applicant possessed the capacity to contribute to the girls’ Netball and girls’ Football extracurricular development.
What the school offers its staff
This is an exciting opportunity to work with highly successful, hard-working and friendly faculties whose work, professional development and well-being is greatly valued and supported by the Senior Leadership Team.
