Teacher of Geography and Religious Education - 0.4 FTE job summary

We have a vacancy for a confident, enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced Teacher of Geography and Religious Education (RE) to join successful departments from September 2021. The successful candidate will: • be a dynamic, dedicated and enthusiastic Geography and RE teacher • have a passionate commitment to making Geography and RE stimulating and relevant for all • be familiar with Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 • be familiar with the requirements of Sheffield SACRE for RE Key Stage 3 and the GCSE curriculum • ability to teach A-Level • be a skilled ICT practitioner • be willing to contribute to the wider life of the School • have effective interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire students and staff Geography plays a prominent part in the life of the School and is taught by experienced specialist teachers. The Geography Department has four key members of staff and dedicated administration support. You would be joining an excellent department and as part of this team you will have the opportunity to teach across the age and ability range up to and including A level. There are fieldwork opportunities for students, including residentials at Post 16. Additionally, Geography is also taught as a discrete subject at Key Stage 3. This is the ideal post for a candidate who wishes to develop their skills and broaden their experience within a supportive environment which will allow them to excel. At King Edward VII School we pursue an academically challenging and inclusive ethos and the study of Religion and Philosophy at all key stages contributes to this outcome. The department consists of three specialist staff and fully supports the local NATRE network who meet termly as part of the Sheffield Learning Hub. The post will involve ensuring the quality of academic spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) provision in terms of curriculum delivery, assessment and achievement for both subjects. The successful candidate will be required to complete Disclosure and Barring Service declarations in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997.
