What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Geography from 0.8—1 FTE, to join the successful and supportive Humanities Faculty on a fixed term basis to cover a maternity leave (until March 2026).

We are looking to appoint a teacher of Geography who is creative, willing to embrace new ideas, reflective in their practice and forward thinking in their use of new technology.

The Humanities Faculty presently consists of ten specialist teachers who teach across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. We work through consultation, collaboratively sharing ideas, approaches and resources. Whenever possible, faculty meetings have a practical focus aimed at continued professional development, where we debate, resource and test new teaching and learning ideas. Student progress and achievement are strong in Humanities at all Key Stages.

The school has seven designated humanities classrooms including a new Humanities block. All staff are given a laptop and iPad, and every classroom is equipped with a TV which links to a teacher laptop or can be used for iPad casting. iPads are used extensively in the faculty as a learning tool and an exciting range of established extracurricular visits which we plan to further expand.

At GCSE we follow the Edexcel B Geography syllabus which enable a smooth transition through the Key Stages. The subject continues to increase in popularity with and increase to four classes in KS4 and two classes in KS5.

At KS3 our curriculum follows the National Curriculum with additional topics chosen to suit our geographical area.

The successful candidate’s timetable will focus on KS3 & 4 only and may also give them the opportunity to widen their teaching experience through the delivery of some Relationships, Health, and Citizenship Education (RSHCE) lesson in KS3 and possibly KS4.
