Teacher of Geography, Maternity Cover job summary

The Dean Trust is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Geography Teacher to cover Maternity Leave to join our dedicated team at Abraham Moss Community School, Crescent Road, Crumpsall, Manchester, M8 5UF. This position is a full-time position, but part-time will be considered from between three to five days per week.

The core purpose of the role will be to Teach key stages 3 and 4 Geography throughout the school, working as a member of the Geography team under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher with the Head of Department.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the geography team and with the wider Humanities team in all professional matters to develop schemes of work that are differentiated, to ensure that there are effective teaching strategies to give access to the curriculum for all pupils, to monitor and improve the quality of teaching and learning, and to set targets and plan for improvement, development and enrichment.
  • Undertake appropriate pastoral and tutorial roles including being a tutor / partner tutor and teaching PSHE.
  • Share in the general responsibility for the academic, social, personal and cultural development of pupils.
  • Take responsibility for relevant organisational and administrative tasks related to your work and carry out tasks efficiently and within the deadlines set.
  • To plan teaching to achieve progression in pupils’ learning
  • To set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline through well focused teaching and through the development of positive and productive relationships
