Teacher of Geography job summary
We are looking to recruit a Teacher of Geography to provide appropriate learning opportunities for students, including taking responsibility for their care, conduct and attainment of students whom they are timetabled to teach.
You must:
Be enthusiastic, creative and able to inspire students to reach their full potential.
Have excellent classroom management skills.
Create a highly stimulating learning environment in which children want to learn.
Be committed to delivering engaging lessons that make good use of ICT and modern technologies.
Have excellent communication skills and be able to work interdependently within faculties.
Specific Responsibilities:
To have high expectations of the students including a commitment to ensuring they have the opportunity to reach their full educational potential
To establish fair respectful, trusting and supportive relationships with students
To demonstrate positive values, attitudes and behaviours expected of students
To ensure that learning opportunities are fully inclusive and ensure that social, religious, ethnic, cultural and linguistic differences are respected and support community cohesion
To be aware of the professional duties of teachers and the statutory framework expected of those with QTS
To be aware of the policies and practices of the school and share in the collective responsibility for their implementation
To communicate effectively with all stakeholders and colleagues
To reflect on own performance, improve practice and be responsible for personal development
To ensure that subject knowledge and understanding of a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies is up to date and embraces new techniques/pedagogies and is flexible to provide learning opportunities for all
To assess student learning both formatively and summative in order for students to be able to take next steps in their learning as they work towards public examinations and qualifications
To be accountable for standards in their classes including student attainment
To set targets in accordance with target setting arrangements, monitor progress towards them and where underachievement exists report to Subject Leader, so that the appropriate invention strategies may be put in place
To ensure that lesson planning is differentiated and personalised according to student need
To set homework in accordance with the school policy ensuring that it builds on previous learning
To utilise current, Intend and future technologies to enhance student learning
To undertake any duty deemed to be within the scope of the role as directed by the Headteacher
