Teacher of Geography job summary

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that is committed to enhancing the whole school experience for all our students. Tadcaster is a wonderful place to work whilst making a positive contribution to young people's lives every day. The Geography Department has a number of well established members of staff who are subject specialists and together have a wealth of teaching experience. The curriculum is well resourced across all key stages ensuring that it is contemporary and that our student’s fieldwork experience is fully integrated. One of our members of staff is experienced in the training of ITTs and mentoring ECTs which adds further to the caring and supportive environment we have fostered in the department. Geography is a popular option choice both at GCSE and A level and attains some of the highest grades in the school.

Our school ambition focuses on developing a culture whereby all students can achieve highly and will be supported whatever their background or ability. This relies on providing learning and teaching of the highest possible quality to engage, enthuse and motivate. At TGS we do not limit our definition of achievement simply to traditionally academic pursuits.

As part of the STAR Multi-Academy Trust, TGS provides a high-quality learning community that inspires and motivates its employees as well as its students. Thus we are seeking a candidate who wants to make a positive difference to the lives of young people and has a commitment to lifelong learning in order to be an outstanding member of our team. We support colleagues who are ambitious for their own professional development, have a ‘can do’ attitude, are creative problem solvers and work collaboratively.

We offer a range of extensive opportunities, incentives and benefits to staff including:

  • Access to STAR MAT’s employee benefits website with discounts on retailers, holidays, days out and so much more…
  • Access to our Employee Assistance helpline for a range of free and confidential advice with a range of support materials available
  • Continuous training and development opportunities
