Teacher of Geography job summary

The Four Stones Multi Academy Trust (MAT) is seeking to appoint a Teacher of Geography from September 2021 to work at The De Montfort School (TDMS).

We are unapologetically ambitious for every student, no matter what their background, prior attainment or needs and are looking for people who want to be the best. You will be an excellent teacher and an inspiring character who is willing to lead by example, but will also contribute positively to wider school life. Most of all, you will be clear that education is a great leveller and work hard to help us achieve our goal of preparing every student to go to university or high-powered alternative.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Further information and an application form are available on the MAT website (http://thefourstonesmat.co.uk/), and the TDMS website (https://www.tdms.worcs.sch.uk/) (further information). The completed form should be emailed (applications@thefourstonesmat.co.uk) by 10.00am on Tuesday 16 March. We intend to interview during the week beginning Monday 22 March over a video link using Microsoft Teams. However, early applications are encouraged as we reserve the right to interview earlier for this post should a suitable candidate apply.

Our school motto is 'unlocking your child's potential', and this belief is the foundation of everything we do at the school. As a staff team, we work together to ensure that all of our students, whatever their background or prior attainment, have the opportunity to succeed. In applying to the school, you would be joining a highly professional and motivated team of staff who go the extra mile for the students every day.

We are a unique school, having the benefit of Year 6 students, this gives us a real opportunity to make an accelerated start in Year 7, as the students are already comfortable at the school. We are very proud of our students' progress in 2019, our progress 8 figure was +0.3, in the top 30% of schools in the country. Our students' progress at key stage 4 means that we have a flourishing sixth form, with a diverse number of subjects being studied by our sixth form students.

As a school, we believe in social mobility, and we want our students to achieve the qualifications they need to take them to the next stage of their education; we strive to enable them to be successful. We have ambition for our students and match this with our high expectations. Our students are enthusiastic and eager to learn. They all have great potential but really benefit from teachers who are experts in their field, innovative in their teaching approach and willing to build strong relationships with them.

The De Montfort School has joined King Charles I School and Haybridge High School & Sixth Form as part of The Four Stones Multi Academy Trust. We now have the opportunity to work with two other like-minded schools that will have the capacity to improve the education and life chances of a larger group of young people when combined.
