What the school offers its staff

Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust is an established Multi-Academy Trust of primary and secondary academies across the West Midlands.

Our reputation is built on our core values of innovation, collaboration and inspiring individuals within our care.

We want every single person that comes through the doors of one of our academies to leave having grown as an individual, in terms of their skill set and their respect for others.

We believe that every person who passes through our doors deserves the very best that we can offer. Everyone who works with and for the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust does so because they believe in children and want their futures to be happy and successful.

We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of German to join our highly successful Languages Team and who will help us on our journey to provide exceptional educational provision for our pupils and families.

The Languages Department at Shireland is a successful, forward-looking and creative department, regularly achieving results above the national average at GCSE. German is taught across the age and ability range and we have recently introduced French in Year 7 and 8. German is taught in Year 7, 8 and 9, after which students can then opt to continue with their language learning. We currently have 4 classes of German in KS4 and small groups of 6th Form students in Year 12 and 13. At KS4 & 5 we follow the AQA Course and at KS3 we have created our own Schemes of Work suited to our learners. We have a wide range of new technologies to enrich teaching and engage learners.

Language visits, both home and abroad, are positively encouraged and are very popular. Pupils in KS3 have the opportunity to visit local Universities and also local Business to experience the benefits of languages in the world of work and we also run a trip to Boppard for pupils in all key stages.

We are an enthusiastic team, who use a wide range of teaching activities and strategies to enhance the students enjoyment of learning a foreign language while developing their linguistic skills and we are looking for someone with energy and vision to contribute to our teaching, learning, achievement and enrichment.

The Academy’s strong staff development focus makes this an ideal post for teachers wishing to develop their career. Candidates should be able to respond to the busy and caring atmosphere of this outstanding Academy, be able to promote excellent results, be committed to extracurricular activities and be fully involved in school life.

We can offer:

  • Opportunities across our MAT to enhance skills and experience at both primary and secondary level
  • Excellent career development opportunities
  • Exceptional CPD provision including working with national and international experts in their field
  • a supportive working environment and team ethos
  • friendly, enthusiastic children.

We pride ourselves on being an employer of choice where all staff can thrive. We believe that supporting our staff both personally and professionally allows them to give their very best to our students. Our aim is to foster a working culture that recognises and reflects the importance of good mental health and wellbeing and provides effective support when colleagues need it.
