Job summary

We are an active and vibrant department containing 4 specialist teachers. We aim to provide students with access to a wide range of practical sporting activities, which enable them to develop physically and spiritually. We promote teamwork and sportsmanship and develop students social and resilience skills.

Students in Key Stage 3 receive 2 hours of core PE per week and cover many different sporting activities, providing a platform to learn ‘basic to advanced’ skills, and learn how to apply them effectively in competitive situations. Students cover a wide range of different sports ensuring a broad and balanced curriculum.

At Key Stage 4, students receive 1 hour of core PE time per week. Pupils can also choose between GCSE PE and the Cambridge National Award in Sports Science, both following the OCR specification. We offer an extensive extra-curricular programme. All extra-curricular clubs are inclusive in nature and support all students regardless of ability or experience. We offer daily lunch clubs and weekly after school training sessions in a variety of different sports. Students will be able to represent the school in various local and regional competitions against other schools within Trafford.

About St Antony's Roman Catholic School, a Voluntary Academy

Are you looking for a new challenge or seeking a first post? If so, we ask that you strongly consider applying for the posts that are currently available in our wonderful school. St Antony’s is a great place to work. It is warm and friendly and staff are very supportive of each other. Since 2017, pupil numbers have grown from 450 to just under 600 in September 2020. This will rise to a capacity figure of 650 this year.

As you note from the above, we are a small secondary school which is part of our strength. This has enabled us to make improvements in all areas over the last few years. If this small introduction has piqued your interest then please read the Headteacher’s letter for each post, which forms part of the application pack. This letter details some of the key features of our lovely school. In addition, we are more than happy to discuss any of these posts by telephone or in person, prior to interview. We look forward to hearing from you.
