Teacher of History job summary
We are seeking to appoint a qualified teacher of history who shares our passion for teaching and learning and can instill a love of the subject in our students. History is an exciting, forward looking and successful subject area at Netherthorpe School. This is reflected in the results of the department, which are consistently significantly above national averages, as well as our large uptake at both GCSE and A level. The distinct identity of the History department is shaped by the emphasis on high expectations and the excellent pedagogical skills and knowledge of the team. We are a friendly and supportive team who places an emphasis on collaborative planning and bespoke subject specific CPD to ensure our students have access to a diverse, engaging and knowledge rich curriculum. Our KS3 students have 2 hours of history per week. The vast majority opt to take GCSE History which is taught over two years and we prepare them for the Pearson Edexcel specification consisting more specifically of Medicine through time, Anglo-Saxon and Norman Britain, America and Weimar and Nazi Germany. We offer AQA Alevel specifically studying The Tudors 1485-1603, Russia 1917-1953 and the NEA. We welcome applicants who can work as part of our team to ensure our students continue to receive an outstanding education in History.
