Teacher of History job summary

The Latymer School is an oversubscribed high achieving, but caring Grammar School in North London. Visitors comment on the warm atmosphere and the high levels of participation in extra-curricular activities that encourage students to foster and nurture their skills and interests beyond the confines of the curriculum. We are proud of our inclusive school community and there is a real passion for teaching and learning in a supported and welcoming atmosphere that inspires risk-taking and creativity. As a school, we are committed to developing the whole person and it is a place where you can really engage students in their learning and develop as a teacher.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed teacher of History who has high expectation of students and themselves and who will motivate and inspire pupils to achieve their best. The History Department is a thriving and well organised department that is impressively resourced to provide a supportive working atmosphere for staff. Programmes of study across all the key stages seek to challenge and stimulate all students and the department has a consistent record of excellent results with 84.4% of pupils gaining 7/9 in GCSE History. History is also a popular subject at A Level and students continue to excel 94.1% achieving A*- C and many going on to read History at university. The department also offers Politics, and it is a popular choice at A Level, but we are looking for a history teacher at this point. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and would suit either an experienced teacher or an Early Careers Teacher, who would be able to hone their teaching skills in a supportive environment.

The school also provides a range of well-being activities and facilities including good transport links, free parking, a cycle to work scheme, use of the fitness suite and even massages by a qualified masseuse. The school also runs a number of national and international trips, and we even have our own residential centre in a beautiful part of North Wales which staff also use. We value our staff and the importance of maintaining a healthy work life balance.

If you would like to join this hard-working, able, and effective team of committed teachers, we would love to hear from you.
