Teacher of Humanities job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly committed person, who will be an excellent Teacher of Humanities (maternity cover) at Lodge Park Academy.
We are committed to delivering quality training in both these areas and happy to develop staff who are proficient in one but are yet to have experience in the other. This could be an excellent way to expand your skill and knowledge base in an additional subject area.
You will maintain a thorough and up to date knowledge of the teaching of your subject(s) and take account of wider curriculum developments which are relevant to your work.
You will plan lessons/activities/tutorials and sequences of lessons to meet students’ individual learning needs in accordance with the Trust wide Humanities curriculum.
You will use a range of appropriate strategies and follow Academy policies for teaching/tutoring, behaviour management and classroom management.
You will do all that you can to ensure that you safeguard and promote the welfare of students in the Academy.
You will set well-grounded consistent expectations for students in your teaching and tutorial groups using information about prior attainment.
You will do all you can to ensure that, as a result of your teaching (and tutoring), your students achieve well relative to their prior attainment, making progress as good as or better than similar students nationally and in the Academy.
You will take responsibility for your own professional development and use the outcomes to improve your teaching (and tutoring) and your students’ learning.
Fixed term teaching role for one year- to cover the maternity leave of one of our teachers.

Who we are looking for
Relevant Subject Degree at BA or above
Qualified Teacher Status
Experience in a educational setting
Understanding of the current curriculum discussion with your specialist subject(s)
The skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to teach across Key Stage 3- 4 (possibly 5)
Evidence of being a good classroom teacher
Evidence of ability to find and use resources and technology in teaching and learning

Lodge Park Academy is a mixed secondary school situated on the edge of Corby in Northamptonshire, which was officially opened by Formula 1 ace Lewis Hamilton in May 2013. We offer a high quality education for students aged 11 to 19.
