What skills and experience we're looking for

Ivy Education Trust is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual with drive, passion, enthusiasm and ambition to join our Humanities department at Newton Abbot College in the next stage of its development. Your challenge will be to teach outstanding and interactive lessons across different subjects leading to high levels of student progress. Our students study Geography, History, Religious Studies and Values (our own PSHE curriculum) at KS3. At GSCE level we offer Geography, History and Religious Studies as option subjects and all students study a combined non-assessed Religious Studies & Values course. At KS5 we offer History, Politics, Geography, Sociology and Religion, Philosophy & Ethics. The ability to teach up to A Level in one or more of the disciplines is desirable.

We are looking for a classroom practitioner who is inspirational, dedicated and forward-thinking; determined to raise standards in Humanities; creative, enthusiastic and committed to active learning; and an excellent team player. A teacher who can:

  • demonstrate excellent planning and organisational skills
  • enthuse and motivate all students
  • demonstrate incredibly high expectations
  • believe that all students are capable of success
  • teach Humanities to A level

If you think you can make a difference to our students and relish the idea of joining our successful, supportive and highly motivated team in the delivery of an excellent Humanities education, then we want to hear from you!
