Teacher of Humanities job summary

Nidderdale High School is a vibrant and highly successful school, with an ambition to develop an innovative curriculum in support of academic achievement and wellbeing for all. The school continues to grow in size and maintains a strong reputation in the community. Our most recent Ofsted inspection confirmed we are a good school with ‘high ambitions’.

The school is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative Teacher of Humanities to join the Humanities Area of Learning. This teaching post would be equally suitable for an ECT or a teacher with a number of years of experience.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher who can demonstrate the ability to:

  • Teach humanities subjects across the age and ability range up to and including GCSE. The successful candidate will be able to offer all humanities subjects at KS3 and the ability to teach Geography and / or History at GCSE is essential.
  • Work as part of an extended team to secure continued whole school improvement
  • Contribute to the provision of extracurricular activities
  • Contribute to the development of a curriculum which enables young people to flourish and develop their curiosity about the world we live in.

The ability to teach another subject at KS3 would be an advantage

As a valued member of our team we can offer you:

Clear and shared values and expectations with an emphasis on 'achievement for all'

  • A commitment to professional development, including Early Career Framework and NPQ programmes
  • A stimulating work environment in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within easy commuting distance to Harrogate (30 mins), Ripon (25 mins), Leeds (40 mins) and Skipton (30 mins)
  • An experienced, highly committed and supportive leadership team
  • Membership of a wider team of subject specialists and education professionals as part of the Moorlands Learning Trust

Nidderdale High School is part of the Moorlands Learning Trust and a member of the Red Kite Alliance. Both students and staff enjoy the benefits of school improvement, professional development and career progression opportunities in the Trust & partnership working within the Alliance.

In January 2023, Ofsted judged the school ‘continues to be Good' in all areas of its provision. The ethos of the school, ‘a shared vision’ for ensuring the quality of education continues to improve from an already good position and the morale and wellbeing of staff were all highlighted in the report.

If you have the motivation and drive for excellence and want to be part of an enthusiastic, dedicated and well-resourced team, committed to ensuring that all students make the best possible progress in an ambitious school, we would be pleased to receive an application from you.

Please complete the application form and submit by the closing date. Ensure your Supporting Statement explains:
