Teacher of ICT and Business job summary

Shoreham Academy is a unique, successful and dynamic school at the heart of the communities of Shoreham and Southwick. The moment you walk through the door at Shoreham Academy you can feel the buzz, energy and excitement of an inclusive school that focuses on the enrichment, enhancement and learning of all children.

Shoreham Academy’s Business department is popular and expanding. We have three classes of GCSE Business (Edexcel) in both Year 10 and Year 11. We also have a growing 6th form with two classes in each year.

As the department is relatively small, it is vital we work well as a team. Within the department, the wider faculty and academy group, we believe in collaboration and shared responsibility. We make extensive use of our VLE to work with both students and staff alike. We make use of technology well and aim for lessons to be student led. We have very high expectations of our students and therefore our staff are also encouraged to be the best they can be.

The Business department aims to inspire a love of the subject through engaging, challenging and diverse case studies. An ideal applicant would have relevant and enriching experience outside of teaching to bring to the classroom. We want to enrich our curriculum further through trips and clubs and the successful candidate would be expected to contribute to this development.

We are an 11-18, non-selective academy where everyone – staff and students alike – strive to ‘be the best they can be’. We see each child as an individual and seek to give them an education which best suits their abilities and interests. As adults we also see ourselves as a work in progress and invest heavily in our own professional development in order to remain challenged by what we do and inspirational in what we can give. We seek to employ enthusiastic, dynamic and inspiring staff to join us in working creatively with our young people and enabling them all to achieve great things.

The role:

We are looking for a full-time teacher, although would consider part-time hours for the right candidate, capable of teaching across two faculties, working closely with different teams to help deliver the ICT and Business curriculum.

We invite applications from ECTs starting their career, or from experienced teachers looking for a new challenge.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent teaching and learning in Key Stage 3 and 4. You will support the Director of Studies and Curriculum Leaders in promoting standards and maximising student progress.

Shoreham Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children therefore all positions in the school will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).

To comply with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, all prospective employees will be required to supply evidence of eligibility to work in the UK.
