Teacher of ICT and Business job summary
We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher of ICT and Business to join our successful ICT and Business departments. This post could suit an ECT as well as a more experienced candidate.
We are a dynamic and innovative ICT department who are looking to expand. With strong foundations being created in computing at KS3; student outcomes are going from strength to strength in both KS4 Computer Science and KS5 ICT. Many students continue to study and work in areas linked to ICT in further education and beyond.
The Business Studies department is growing and highly successful, with 3 GCSE classes in both years 10 and 11 for the past 3 years, as well as a strong uptake for 6th form. The department consistently delivers excellent outcomes across both KS4 and KS5. Many students choose to continue studying Business in further and higher education after leaving us at TBS.
The person appointed will be well supported through our teaching and learning coach, a well-established professional studies programme and through a comprehensive induction process. The school offers bespoke CPD opportunities ranging from National Professional Qualifications support to supporting MA programmes.
Our OFSTED inspection in February 2019 made the following comments about teaching and relationships at school:
- Teachers are wholehearted in their desire for pupils to achieve well. Relationships between teachers and pupils are constructive and are built on trust and mutual respect. This enables pupils to have the confidence to ask for help and support when they are stuck or unsure.
- Pupils conduct themselves in an orderly manner. They are welcoming, self-assured and act in a polite and respectful way. Lunchtimes are calm, with groups of pupils engaged in friendly conversation.
- The majority of pupils display a positive attitude towards their learning. They are keen to succeed and value the efforts made by their teachers in supporting them in lessons.
We are a school that have a desire and understanding of how to succeed and provide an environment that is stimulating to students and staff alike. We understand that this can only be achieved by investing in our staff and ensuring they are supported in their own professional development. We have high expectations of staff, as we do students. If you are someone who wants to develop as a professional and have a real impact on individuals, then we are the place for you.
You will be joining a highly skilled staff, who are supportive, show determination and resolve. We have a desire to continue our journey to being the best we can be, we are true believers in ‘Better never stops’ as it is the continual development that makes us what we are. We are also a school where teamwork and enjoyment is central to our success as it is these that keeps us going when times are tough.

A co-educational secondary school with 880 students, a growing Sixth Form and just fewer than 100 staff.
As a school we are creative in our curriculum and we treat each child as an individual; because of this, learning and progress is at the centre of everything we do. We work towards making the selective system irrelevant.
We want every student who attends the school to reach their full potential academically. We also put great value on extra-curricular clubs and activities. During any one week there are over 50 clubs or activities running for students. We believe that this complements their academic studies, helps them to develop into well rounded individuals and enables them to make a positive contribution to the community.
We have wonderful facilities including a purpose built drama studio, 2 Apple Mac suites, a ratio of 1 computer to every 2.5 students, interactive whiteboards in each classroom, specialist technology classrooms and a sports hall. We are a well-equipped school that gives our students every opportunity to engage in their learning. Our school environment is maintained to the highest standard and students are expected to respect this at all times.
