What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher of French and Spanish, who is able to respond creatively to the teaching of the subject. The successful candidate will join our dedicated, positive and collaborative team, to support the focus on securing success for every student in and outside of the classroom.

We are looking for someone with excellent subject knowledge, who is also open to how the pedagogy in Languages is changing, and able to respond innovatively. You will be expected to deliver well planned and engaging lessons, to help our students to make excellent progress across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The successful candidate must have good organisation, communication and ICT skills and embrace school life.

The school teaches French, Spanish and German and all 3 are popular subjects with our students at key stage 4.

The Modern Languages Team currently comprises of three full time staff - each with their own dedicated, well-equipped teaching room. The faculty is well-resourced and forward-thinking.

John Hanson is a successful 11-16 community school; our students are friendly and confident and we strive to ensure that they achieve the success that they deserve. If you are an ECT we have a successful ECT induction program providing full support.

Location and History

John Hanson Community School is a thriving, mixed gender 11-16 community school in South West Andover, Hampshire, with almost 1000 students. The school has a rich history, dating back to 1582, and was previously known as Andover Free School and Andover Grammar School. In 1974 the school was renamed John Hanson School in honour of its founder, and moved to the current site on Floral Way in 2001.
