Teacher of Mathematics job summary

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher of Mathematics to join our successful department. You will have a passion and ambition for your subject and the skills to engage students across the age and ability range. You will enjoy working as an integral part of our established, high-achieving department.

Applications are welcome from teachers of KS3/4 as well as those who have experience to teach at KS5. Mathematics is extremely popular and successful at Parmiter’s, with over 200 Sixth Form students studying Mathematics or Further Mathematics at A level. Suitably qualified candidates with the experience or aspiration to teach A-level mathematics will have the opportunity to join the KS5 teaching team.

The successful candidate will be welcomed into a department of highly experienced and supportive teachers. The role is offered for Easter 2025, however, an earlier start date can be accommodated.

Ofsted (2024) commented that (pupils) “are active participants in their learning and consistently demonstrate high levels of focus … teachers are experts in the subjects they teach … pupils’ conduct and manners are exemplary … any disruption to learning is incredibly rare… staff are extremely positive about the support that they receive from leaders…particularly around their professional development and well-being”. The inspection included a deep dive into several subjects including Mathematics.

Parmiter’s coordinates CPD for the Watford Partnership for Teacher Training and offers a robust induction programme. We can offer the successful candidate:

  • Staff Well-Being initiatives include an online GP service, Employee Assistance Programme, complimentary use of the on-site Fitness Suite and an on-site subsidised electric vehicle charging point.

  • A high-quality and well-resourced teaching environment with highly talented and engaged students.

  • An admission policy prioritising the children of staff (a qualifying period may apply).

  • Lovely school grounds in leafy surrounds with ample parking.

Parmiter’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all members of staff to share this commitment. Applicants must declare any criminal convictions as the post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointments will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via the Disclosure and Barring Service and references from previous employers. We are required to conduct online searches for shortlisted candidates in accordance with the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance in order to identify any incidents or concerns which are publicly available online. We are an Equal Opportunities employer.
