Teacher of Mathematics job summary

We are excited to offer the opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate Teacher of Maths to join our friendly and dedicated team. We welcome applications from teachers who can inspire a genuine love of maths in students of all ages and abilities. Our school has strong values - Belong, Believe, Aspire, Achieve - and is a rewarding place to work.

Joining the maths department at this time is particularly exciting as with a new Head of Department in post, there is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the future success of Faringdon Community College. Members of the department take every opportunity to support each other. Resources are shared and there is frequent sharing of best practice within the department and across the school. The ability to collaborate effectively and work constructively as part of a team is essential.

At FCC, we aspire to be a Beacon of Excellence and are committed to knowing our students and providing high quality, inclusive teaching and learning. We provide a nurturing environment with high levels of pastoral care, high expectations and ambition for all. Students are immersed in a range of experiences both in and out of the classroom and staff are passionate about contributing to these.

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic educator who is committed to inclusion, who delivers well planned, engaging lessons and is reflective in their practice. Our pedagogy is grounded in evidence-informed practice, and familiarity with Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction would be beneficial. For colleagues who are not yet familiar with these principles, our comprehensive CPDL programme is designed to support your development and build your expertise.

You will be able to teach maths up to KS4 and up to KS5 is desirable but not essential. All applicants are welcome, including ECTs, as a full induction is provided with internal CPDL and National College membership. We empower our teachers and support staff through a framework that is supportive and developmental. The staff body is welcoming and the staff room is vibrant.

Faringdon Community College is a successful and well-established 11-18 co-educational secondary comprehensive school, which embraces the idea of lifelong learning and community education.

Benefits of working at FCC include:

Full support for your professional development and future training needs.

A commitment to recognise previous, continuous service.

A commitment to offer flexible working wherever we can, to support the work life balance of our employees.

A cycle to work scheme.

A 24/7 free employee assistance programme.
