What skills and experience we're looking for

Hagley Catholic High School is looking to recruit a teacher of Maths as soon as possible. It is essential that the candidate can teachacross all year groups from KS3 to KS4 with the ability to teach at A Level desirable or an area of future growth for the successfulcandidate. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to teaching and learning development in Maths across all keystages and all abilities and we are looking to appoint an ambitious, committed and conscientious practitioner.

The Maths Department is a very well regarded team of 7 teaching staff. The curriculum intent is strong, and schemes of learning arewell sequenced, while students make very good progress and outcomes are consistently in the top 5 schools in Worcestershire.

Maths is taught to all pupils in Key Stages 3 & 4 with A-level provision including further maths at AS Level. The appointed candidatewould be expected to provide a secure specialist knowledge of the Maths curriculum.

In 2024, 100% of the cohort achieved grades 9 - 1 with an average grade of 5(b). 31% achieved 7 or more, while 82% achieved 9 - 4and 64% 9 - 5. At A Level a 100% pass rate was secured again with an average grade of a B and an A- in Further Maths.

Hagley Catholic High School is part of the Emmaus Catholic Multi Academy Company with five of our Catholic feeder schools. Currently our school has population of 1136 pupils aged 11 – 18 including a Sixth Form of 200. The school operates under the patronage of St Nicholas Owen and is dedicated to developing a Catholic community in which all students work towards fulfilling their potential in a safe and supportive environment.

The school is situated in Worcestershire, bordering on to West Midlands, in a semi-rural setting some twelve miles south west of Birmingham. The village of Hagley is within close proximity to the national motorway network, yet still enjoys views of the Clent Hills and beautiful surrounding countryside.

The school has a Pupil Admission Number of 190 with six forms of entry, however, we are heavily over-subscribed. The school enjoys an excellent reputation and commands a high degree of parental and parish support. Students come to Hagley mainly from Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Halesowen, Stourport-on-Severn, Bewdley and South West Birmingham.
