Teacher of Mathematics job summary
Temporary maternity cover from September 2020
We are seeking an excellent practitioner to join our large and successful Maths Department. Whether you are new to the profession, or have a wealth of experience, we would welcome your application! Along with strong subject knowledge, you will need the ability to teach across the KS3 and 4 ability profile, and the enthusiasm to inspire our students. The ability to teach KS5 is desirable but not essential.
We encourage applications from NQTs looking to secure a role after training and we can provide outstanding induction and support from our strong team of Lead Practitioners and our well established training programmes. We are committed to excellent CPD opportunities which reflect our emphasis on training, support and career development and we see this as a key element in enabling our staff to achieve their goals and ambitions.
If successful, you would be joining a successful department of passionate mathematicians. Each year we have over 400 students taking part in the UKMT mathematics challenges at various levels, with a number of students qualifying for additional rounds at all levels. We host both the UKMT team maths challenge, and the AMSP Maths Feast.
At GCSE, results are well above the national average with 83% attaining grade 4+ and 26% grade 7+ in 2019. Uptake at A level is excellent with 8 classes across years 12 and 13, including separately timetabled further maths. In 2019, our students achieved 58% A*-B in maths and 50% A*-C in further maths.
