Our Opportunity

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Lady Lumley’s School, Pickering for the position of subject teacher of Mathematics with IT. We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, talented and inspiring classroom practitioner to teach Mathematics across all ability groups. The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and the ability to inspire and motivate our ambitious and hardworking pupils. We follow the GCSE Mathematics Edexcel/Pearson specification at KS4. At KS5 we offer A Level Mathematics, A Level Further Mathematics and Level 3 Mathematics in Context, again following the Edexcel/Pearson specifications.

In addition to teaching and contributing to the Mathematics curriculum, the successful applicant will contribute to the Computer Science/IT curriculums. At KS4 we offer GCSE Computer Science and at KS5 we offer A level Computer Science. We follow the OCR specifications for both. In addition, at KS4 we offer the BTEC in Digital Information Technology, where we follow the Edexcel/Pearson specification. Early Careers Teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/ECT) will also be considered for the role, and support will be provided.

  • Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for learning.
  • Experience in teaching Mathematics and a willingness to teach IT.
  • Understanding and applying effective classroom management.
  • A relevant teaching qualification
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding and applying a range of teaching strategies.
  • Positively targeting and supporting individual learning needs.
  • To undertake professional duties as delegated by the Headteacher/Curriculum Leader for Mathematics/IT.
  • To implement the aims and objectives of the school/trust and to understand and work within school/ trust policies to achieve these aims and objectives.
