What skills and experience we're looking for

The Maths faculty is a supportive and collaborative team, who have high expectations for all students and actively encourage a love of numeracy. The faculty boasts a well sequenced and resourced curriculum and as a consequence we are ideally placed to support and develop early career teachers (ECTs), but would equally be suitable for experienced colleagues looking to broaden their experience and contribute to ensuring excellent outcomes across the faculty.

We would welcome applications from reflective practitioners with a sound knowledge and love of mathematics; individuals who will motivate, contextualise and inspire learning; individuals who can support and challenge students of all abilities at KS3 and KS4. Experience of teaching A-Level maths would be highly desirable and a good sense of humour essential.

What the school offers its staff

The successful candidate will be a strong and engaging practitioner, with a passion for the teaching of maths. You will be able to demonstrate initiative in your role, as well as being flexible so as to meet changing needs of the students you support. You will be able to build effective relationships with both staff and students, and will be a positive role model for the students.

The Castle School continues to be a ‘Good’ school. Within our latest inspection report (25th November 2021), Ofsted praised student behaviour both in lessons and around the school, our positive ethos on celebration, our curriculum, our high priority on reading, our ambition of emphasising the importance of languages and our remote learning response during the pandemic.

We offer:

  • A commitment to CPD and development of all staff, including collaborative support within the school and the Trust and 1:1 instructional coaching to allow teachers to thrive
  • A clear curriculum vision and focus on evidence-based practice
  • Commitment to inclusivity and fostering of diversity
  • Values and vision that are lived not laminated
  • Open and honest culture
  • An established programme of support in place for Early Career Teachers which includes weekly 1:1 coaching from an assigned Lead Practitioner, support within Faculty areas, and access to a wider support network across the Trust.

Commitment to safeguarding

CSET is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates are subject to child protection screening appropriate to the post, which will include an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check for the children’s workforce and a Children’s Barred List check.
