Job Description for Teacher of Maths & Physics
Purpose
The prime purpose of this role is to:
Teach the subjects from Key stage 3 – Key stage 5
The general duties and responsibilities of the role are:
To deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students
To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher / form tutor
To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
To contribute to raising standards of student attainment
To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal, academic growth and spiritual growth
To carry out the statutory secular tasks laid down in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions of Service Document in the light of procedures, policies and guidelines adopted by the Governing Body
To contribute to the Catholic life of the school community with an understanding of the diversity of the school cohort

Overview of Role
To inspire and educate students in Maths and Physics from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5, fostering their individual potential and academic growth while contributing to the school's mission to champion students so they flourish individually and collectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Delivery:
Develop and implement a broad and differentiated curriculum aligned with school goals and strong outcomes
Create engaging lessons, resources, curriculum development and assessment strategies that cater to diverse learning needs
Work closely with the Curriculum Leaders to foster highest expectations in maths and physics lessons
Student Support:
Monitor and support the overall progress and personal development of students, acting as a form tutor
Facilitate a positive learning environment that encourages student participation and self-confidence
Professional Development:
Engage in ongoing professional development and training to enhance teaching practices
Actively participate in the Appraisal process, setting and achieving professional goals
Quality Assurance:
Implement school policies for assessing and reporting on student achievement
Regularly evaluate and adapt teaching methods and curriculum delivery based on student feedback and performance
Communication and Community Engagement:
Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and targets
Collaborate with the local community organisations to enrich the educational experience and provide real-world context to learning
Pastoral Care:
Serve as a Form Tutor, promoting the general well-being of students and fostering a supportive classroom atmosphere
Liaise with pastoral leaders to address any issues affecting student engagement and achievement
Develop spirituality and formation that fosters a community rooted in belonging
Teaching Excellence:
Assess, record, and report on student progress and attainment, providing timely and constructive feedback
Utilise a variety of teaching methods and technologies to enhance learning and meet the needs of all students
