Teacher of Maths job summary
Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more.
Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, as we work together where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and build the futures of children and young people.
We are looking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic individual to teach Maths at our academy joining a successful, supportive and forward-thinking Maths department of four. Maths is a core subject at the academy and pupils enjoy their Maths lessons.
We are a unique, small, rural 11-16 academy in the beautiful setting of North-West Worcestershire. Our pupils are happy, well behaved and proud of their school. The academy has a strong vein of moral purpose where the child is at the heart of all we do. Our vision is High Achievement and Outstanding Care and staff work hard to model this in every day behaviour and planning. As well as this, the academy prioritises the values of Respect, Wellbeing, Engage and Challenge, Inclusion and Ambition.
We invest in our pupils and our staff to ensure all are supported to be the best they can be. If you are applying for an ECT post, you will be supported through the Early Career Framework by a subject mentor (Head of Maths) and a professional mentor (Vice Principal in charge of Quality of Education and staff training). This is a well-established and successful training and induction programme building on the progress made in your PGCE (or equivalent) year.
If you are an experienced teacher of maths, weekly CPD, local CPD opportunities as well as OAT networking and training opportunities will ensure you are supported to be the best you can be in the classroom.
The THOA Maths curriculum has been created to help pupils to understand the world around them. By discovering patterns and quantifying relationships, pupils will piece together connections and possibilities. Mathematics at Tenbury High offers learners a powerful way of communicating. They learn to explore and explain their ideas using symbols and diagrams alongside spoken and written language. By sparking students’ curiosity, fostering their creativity, developing their reasoning and improving their problem solving, the curriculum will equip them with the skills they need in life beyond school.
The post holder will be expected to teach Maths at KS3 and KS4. All pupils study AQA Mathematics at GCSE and we also offer GCSE Statistics as an option subject at KS4.
