About us

Elmwood School is a growing SEMH provision based in Rushall, Walsall, committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for young people. We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Maths Teacher who can bring energy, creativity, and expertise to our expanding team, helping to shape the next stage of our journey towards excellence.

Our school currently supports 82 mixed students aged 11-16, organised across three distinct areas of provision. We offer a broad, personalised curriculum designed to meet a wide range of needs and abilities, including pathways leading to GCSEs and IGCSEs.

Having recently joined Matrix Academy Trust, we are entering an exciting new chapter of growth and collaboration. This new partnership as part of Matrix provides access to shared expertise, professional development opportunities, and a strong network of support — all helping us to continue improving outcomes for our pupils.

About you

We are looking for an innovative and committed practitioner who can build positive, trusting relationships with young people with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate high expectations, adaptability, and resilience, alongside a passion for delivering engaging and effective Maths teaching that enables every pupil to achieve their potential.

You will have experience in delivering high-quality lessons within a nurturing and supportive environment, together with the flair and creativity to design learning experiences that reflect our commitment to Learning Outside the Classroom. The role may also include responsibilities as a form tutor, as well as contributing to wider thematic curriculum areas on a weekly basis, engaging pupils through innovative and inspiring cross-curricular approaches.

Please see the job description for the exact duties, skills and experience required.

If you are driven by the opportunity to make a lasting difference and are committed to supporting pupils at risk of social exclusion, we would be delighted to hear from you.

We encourage applicants to come and visit our school to see for yourself the true potential of our facilities. This will give you an idea of how you can develop them to continue to engage pupils whilst achieving successful and tangible academic outcomes for those who have a passion and desire for a good qualification as a gateway to further education or employment.

To apply, please complete our application form available from My New Term. We encourage potential applicants to visit, prior to making an application.
