What skills and experience we're looking for

Candidates suitable for the role will:

  • have strong subject knowledge and be confident in teaching Maths to high achieving students
  • be keen to develop their subject knowledge in all facets of Maths. New teachers will be supported in developing the knowledge and skills necessary for teaching to A level over a period of time
  • be willing to use a range of strategies to teach across the ability range
  • be passionate about personal and professional development and demonstrate a willingness to engage with the findings of evidence-based research through our whole school CPD programme.
  • help extend and enrich students’ school experiences beyond the curriculum
  • have the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and parents

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Teacher of Maths, to share their knowledge and love of their subject in our vibrant, caring and diverse community, where a ‘Love of Learning’ is evident in every student interaction.

Students at Tiffin Girls’ are highly motivated, kind and respectful, and greatly value the contribution maths brings to their education; over 150 are taking it in Year 12 and 110 in Year 13, with over 25 taking Further Maths. We provide a rigorous and supportive education and a broad range of co-curricular maths related opportunities to extend student learning, including undertaking the challenge of competitions at each key stage.

In 2024, 98% of students achieved grades 9-7 at GCSE and 94% of students achieved A*-B at A level. The Department provides both Maths and Further Maths at A Level and many of our students go on to study maths related subjects, Sciences and medicine at leading universities.

Early career teachers are very welcome to apply, as we support the development of new teachers through an excellent ECT training programme and the Maths department is very supportive in its approach to subject specific development.

The Tiffin Girls’ School, a selective state school and stand-alone Academy, is a vibrant and happy community where the students take centre stage. The school is currently home to 1,235 students, aged between 11 and 18, and is now into its 143rd year.
