At Horsforth School we believe in ‘opportunity and achievement for all’, are committed to the highest outcomes for students and to develop the best opportunities for staff. We are committed to being a ‘Greenhouse School’. We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, inspiring and forward thinking colleague to join our Maths team. Whether you’re experienced or newly-qualified, you will have the opportunity to join a highly successful department with a supportive and collaborative ethos. Right now we are looking for an inspiring teacher who can bring mathematics to life – and help us create a nurturing environment within which everyone can reach their full potential.
Join us and you will be part of a fantastic Mathematics Department with a strong team ethos. Our school is dedicated to evidence-based practice with a focus on Rosenshine’s principles of instruction, and we have a strong emphasis on incorporating educational research in to the classroom. We believe in working collaboratively, sharing ideas and supporting each other to achieve great things as we develop innovative teaching and learning strategies. With a strong track record of results at GCSE, we are a creative forward thinking department moving into the new curriculum with confidence. In other words, there’s never been a better time to join us. We have a strong offer at KS4, offering Statistics alongside as an option subject, and at A Level we have high uptake, with 4 A level groups, a Core Maths cohort and a Further Maths group. Therefore, some experience of teaching at KS5 would be beneficial although not essential. A real interest in developing teaching and learning is also important.
The department’s success is reflected throughout this ambitious and consistently oversubscribed 11-19 school, which enjoys strong community and international links. Our commitment to excellence in education is recognised nationally. Ofsted describe us as a ‘good school with outstanding features’.
For our 1400 students, Horsforth School provides an engaging environment of discovery and growth. For our colleagues too, this setting offers some great benefits. Located in north-west Leeds, the school is just five miles from the city centre with its thriving retail, leisure and cultural facilities, yet on the edge of open countryside. York, Harrogate and the Dales are within easy reach.
