Teacher of Maths job summary

We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to join our Mathematics department as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who really wants to make a difference to the lives of young people. Our single goal is “Students First” and you will be joining a strong team of professionals working to this sole aim.

Outwood Grange Academies Trust provides a high-quality learning and cultural environment that inspires and motivates children. Whether you are ambitious for progression or determined to be an outstanding classroom teacher, Outwood Academy Portland is the place for you. Leadership development, succession planning and capacity building are major priorities for the Trust as this enables us to facilitate rapid progression for those who want to advance either in the classroom or at a leadership level. You will be well supported by an experienced team of teachers and Directors as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience.

The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, which affords opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired. All staff are guaranteed a minimum of two hours CPD per week and a further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through our own network of teaching schools. Our Executive Director for Maths, Kathryn Greenhalgh, leads Yorkshire and the Humber Maths Hub. This, as well as her work with the DfE, means that OGAT maths departments are helping to inform the development and mould the landscape of mathematics both regionally and nationally.

We have a great training package for teachers new to the Trust from ECTs through to HODs which includes: Teaching for Understanding; Open Classroom events; Maths Matters; TSST; Reasoning at KS3; weekly professional development time and further programmes free through the Outwood Institute of Education. We invest in you so you invest in our students.

The DfE is promoting additional payments to encourage ECTsin state-funded secondary schools in England to continue teaching, for ECTs teaching in Chemistry, Computer Science, Maths or Physics. Eligibility for the scheme can be checked at: DfE Guidance: Levelling up premium payments for teachers

A visit to our school is encouraged and we invite you to contact hr@portland.outwood.comto arrange this or if you have any questions or require further details. Please complete your application as soon as possible as we reserve the right to close adverts early.
