The Maths Department at John Kyrle High School is a thriving, supportive and forward‑thinking team. With 11 specialist teachers—including colleagues with significant KS5 experience—we are proud of our sustained improvement and strong outcomes across all key stages.

A Department with a Strong Sixth Form Presence

Mathematics is one of the most popular subjects at KS5, with multiple A‑Level Maths and Further Maths classes running each year. Our Further Maths cohort continues to grow, and we are committed to expanding this provision even further.

  • You will be supported by a skilled, knowledgeable team who collaborate closely to deliver high-quality post‑16 teaching.

A Supportive Environment Where You Can Grow

We have an excellent track record of helping teachers thrive. Several of our current staff began as NQT/ECTs with us and have grown into highly skilled practitioners and leaders.

New members of the department benefit from:

  • A collaborative, supportive culture rooted in professional dialogue
  • Shared planning and assessment to reduce workload and promote consistency
  • Opportunities to take on meaningful responsibilities and help shape the future of the department
  • Support for further professional qualifications, including postgraduate study

Purpose-Built Teaching Spaces

Our three‑storey maths block includes ten well‑equipped classrooms, one of which also functions as a computer suite. These modern, well‑resourced spaces help us create a stimulating learning environment at all key stages.

Curriculum & Achievement

We deliver:

  • AQA GCSE Mathematics at Key Stage 4
  • Edexcel A‑Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics at Key Stage 5

Recent outcomes reflect our commitment to high standards:

KS4 (2025): 58% grade 5+, 73% grade 4+
