Teacher of Maths & Science job summary

The University of Kent Academies Trust is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Mathematics and Science to join our vibrant community at Chatham Grammar on a 0.6 permanent basis, with the possibility of additional hours for an exceptional candidate. The start date is flexible and will be agreed with the successful applicant, with the potential for an early appointment.

We are looking for a qualified teacher with strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and Science, who is able to inspire and engage students across Key Stages 3-5. The successful candidate will have the energy, creativity, and commitment to deliver high-quality teaching that fosters curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning in both subjects.

You will be confident in planning and delivering well-structured, engaging lessons in Maths and Science, assessing student progress effectively, and contributing to a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. The ability to make both subjects relevant to real-life contexts and future careers is essential.

As part of our collaborative and forward-thinking departments, you will contribute to the ongoing development of both Maths and Science, sharing best practice and supporting innovative approaches to teaching and learning. You will also be expected to contribute to enrichment opportunities, which may include STEM activities, science clubs, maths challenges, trips, and competitions, helping to extend students’ learning beyond the classroom and promote enthusiasm for both disciplines.

Chatham Grammar (CG) is a selective girls’ academy for students aged 11-19, with a mixed sixth form, sponsored by the University of Kent. From September 2026, CG will begin its transition to a fully coeducational academy by welcoming boys into Year 7.
