‘Staff, pupils and parents and carers are phenomenally positive about the direction of the school, its leadership and the quality of education on offer’ Ofsted 2016
St Augustine’s success over the last 3 years has seen us become oversubscribed, invest heavily in our staff development and celebrate sustained results and outstanding pupil progress. We take children from right across the coastal area which makes us a truly diverse school community.
Although we may be a smaller than average school (603 on roll) we certainly think big – and our calm and purposeful ethos of learning is frequently commented on from our school community and visitors. Staff know our students well and together we form a cohesive community.
Due to the quality of CPD, colleagues that support each other and a sense of fun and enjoyment we have seen our staff stay and develop – and as such our school has low staff turnover and high staff retention.
We are:
• A ‘Good’ school by Ofsted in 2016
• Judged ‘Outstanding’ for Leadership and Management and our students’ Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare
• A school with a well above average Progress 8 score because our students exceed expectations
• A leading school in the Scarborough and North Yorkshire area with a real focus on making sure all our staff develop professionally
• A school which is a cohesive community – with a highly successful student mentoring scheme
• A leading teacher training partner within the Diocesan Teaching School Alliance
• A founding member of the St Margaret Clitheroe Catholic Academy Trust
Our opportunity
We are looking to appoint a teaching colleague to join our Maths department as our new Teacher of Maths.
This is the first Maths teaching post our school has advertised for many years, and we believe this post will offer you the support, challenge and enjoyment you may be looking for in either your first teaching post or a move to a different school context. This post has come about due to the internal promotion to SENCO.
Regardless of where you are in your career you will receive tailored support from our Headteacher, Head of Maths and staff colleagues as we further develop you and give you the skills, encouragement and experience within the profession to continue to ‘love and serve’.
Many of our staff have accessed professional qualifications for example NPQML and NPQSL, and our area is also home to one of the founding Chartered College of Teaching ‘teaching hubs’.
Join our team and build a wonderful career in a school you are passionate about with students you love to help learn.
We are proud to be a coastal partner along with our fellow 8 secondary schools and we believe we have a unique opportunity for colleagues to grow, develop and thrive in their career as part of our coastal community. For more information on our Coastal Offer, Coastal Charter and how you can make a difference by teaching on the Yorkshire Coast please visit www.teachyc.co.uk
The date of commencement for this post will be January or Easter 2021. Interviews will be held virtually as soon as possible after the closing date.
Closing date: Thursday 24th September 2020 at 9am
