Consett Academy
To start September 2025
Consett Academy is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages with the ability to teach French and German. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for high-quality teaching and learning, and will be dedicated to supporting students to achieve their full potential across a broad and balanced curriculum.
You will be responsible for the effective planning and delivery of lessons that are engaging, differentiated and rooted in a strong understanding of both the subject and the students you teach. Your teaching will reflect high expectations for all pupils, and you will be committed to monitoring and supporting their progress, development and achievement. You will maintain accurate records of assessment and use a range of strategies to provide students with regular, constructive feedback on their progress.
Working closely with the Head of Department and subject colleagues, you will contribute to the development of schemes of work and teaching resources that are stimulating, inclusive and responsive to the needs of all learners. You will actively contribute to the improvement of teaching and learning within the department and the wider academy.
You will have high expectations for behaviour, and will establish a classroom environment that is calm, respectful and focused on learning. As a tutor, you will play an important pastoral role in supporting students’ attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and personal development. You will be a positive role model in all aspects of school life and will promote the values and ethos of the academy through your professional conduct and attitude.
You should be able to demonstrate recent, successful experience of teaching languages across Key Stage 4, with strong subject knowledge and an understanding of current curriculum and assessment requirements. A commitment to professional development and a willingness to reflect on and improve your own practice are essential.
You will be joining a supportive and forward-thinking team where collaboration and shared success are highly valued. You will also benefit from the wider opportunities offered through working in a multi-academy trust, including access to high-quality training and professional development.
Please note that we operate a probationary period of 6 months across all jobs in the Trust (see attached policy for further details). You will receive a comprehensive induction to support you to successfully pass your probation
