Teacher of MFL (French and/or Spanish) job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional qualified teacher of Spanish and/or French to work within a talented, highly motivated and supportive team of teachers within our MFL Department.

Your opportunity

The MFL department at Harris Merton is growing. Spanish was introduced to the KS3 curriculum at the start of this academic year, and GCSE classes will follow. French is taught throughout KS3, 4 & 5. We are looking for a French or Spanish specialist. The ideal candidate will also be able to offer the other language in the lower school.

The successful candidate will:

Be a high calibre practitioner with the potential to teach all students across Key Stages 3, 4 & 5.
Be able to show a strong record of raising student attainment through their strategic teaching of examination groups.
Be dynamic and creative in their ability to teach MFL subjects.
Have the ability to implement key teaching strategies that will inspire and further enhance our students’ love of learning of a modern language.
Be an individual who shares in our collective sense of purpose and has high expectations of what students can achieve.
Have the capacity and drive to develop their teaching and bring innovative ideas to the classroom and the department.
Be able and willing to teach both languages.
Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.

About Harris Academy Merton

Harris Academy Merton serves students from Year 7 to Sixth Form, and has twice been judged Outstanding by Ofsted. The current student roll is 1200, with a planned increase in our Year 7 intake over the next two years taking our numbers from 180 to 240 students. Applications for places greatly exceed the places available. The academy is set in seven acres of land, containing five teaching blocks, a sports hall, a full size floodlit all weather pitch plus four full size floodlit tennis courts and our own playing fields as well as an administration building containing the assembly hall and dining hall. We are favourably located for public transport with good local access to bus, mainline train and underground links, as well as on-site parking for vehicles and bicycles.
