Start date: September 2024 (July for ECT)

Hitchin Boys’ School (HBS) is an outstanding and over-subscribed comprehensive school with a mixed sixth form, which forms part of the highly successful Hitchin Schools’ Consortium. Located in the historic and picturesque market town of Hitchin in North Hertfordshire it is conveniently located 25 minutes from London by train and close to the A1(M) and M1.

We are now seeking an enthusiastic and able Teacher of Spanish and French to join our successful MFL department from September 2024.

Our students are taught French in Year 7 and are offered the chance to study either Spanish or German in Year 8. All boys then choose a language to take to GCSE. There is the possibility to teach all 3 languages at A level. The MFL department comprises six well-resourced specialist language rooms, each with its own high quality listening facilities and interactive whiteboard.

The successful candidate will have a passion for language learning and the ability to motivate all students and bring new ideas as the school builds on its excellent status. The appointment would suit an experienced teacher or an ECT as the school provides a thorough and successful training programme.

If you are enthusiastic to take advantage of a new challenge, then we would be delighted to hear from you. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who wants to join a high performing school and gain significant experience to further enhance their career. Applications from those wishing to contribute to other aspects of school life outside the classroom are particularly welcome.
