Teacher of MFL job summary

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages to join our successful MFL Faculty. You will be a passionate advocate for language learning and have the enthusiasm and skills to engage students across the age and ability range.

Modern Foreign Languages (German, Spanish and French) are a key component of our curriculum. At Key Stage 3, students learn two languages, with all students continuing with at least one language to GCSE. MFL is a popular A Level choice with 6 A Level language classes next academic year. Our teachers and students are supported by three language assistants.

All our MFL teachers teach at least two languages. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to offer either Spanish or French to GCSE and both French and Spanish at KS3.

The position is a full-time, one-year contract from 1st September 2025 to 31 August 2026, to cover maternity leave.

Ofsted (2024) commented that (pupils) “are active participants in their learning and consistently demonstrate high levels of focus … teachers are experts in the subjects they teach … pupils’ conduct and manners are exemplary … any disruption to learning is incredibly rare… staff are extremely positive about the support that they receive from leaders…particularly around their professional development and well-being”.
