Teacher of MFL – Spanish (Part-time)

ECT/MPS/UPS (Fringe) £33,075 - £50,471 (FTE)

Required from September 2025

We seek applications from those of the Catholic faith, all faiths and of no faith but who are supportive of our Christian values and ethos.

Are you a Modern Foreign Language teacher, able to teach Spanish, looking to develop your career in a true community with “Excellence” at its heart? We can offer an exciting opportunity to be part of a thriving school with a strong and supportive MFL department. An ability to teach Spanish up to and including KS4 is essential.

Spanish, French and Italian are taught through all Key Stages at St Mary’s, with established courses at both GCSE and A-Level. Approximately 2/3 of Year 11 undertake the English Baccalaureate including a language. The successful candidate would be expected to teach Spanish across the full age and ability range up to and including KS4, supported by a dedicated and innovative cast of supporting colleagues. We are passionately committed to developing staff and managing workload to ensure that colleagues enjoy their work and recognise St. Mary’s as an almost-uniquely positive place to teach and enjoy their careers. The MFL department is located within our newly £5m renovated Victorian block in state of the art and modern, bright and inspirational classrooms.

St Mary’s Catholic School is a founding member of the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust, established in September 2021. As our recent (October 2024) OFSTED demonstrates, “‘The quality of education pupils receive is exceptional…The culture of positive behaviour at St Mary’s is remarkable…’ and ‘St Mary’s is a very special community to be a part of’. The Quality of Education and Behaviour & Attitudes are graded outstanding.

Working at St. Mary’s is an extraordinary opportunity. We take our shared values of Love-Respect-Flourish to the heart of our ethos for pupils and staff. You will be part of a school which has a tremendously talented, committed, creative, and innovative staff; parents who are supportive; and students who are eager to learn, well behaved and motivated to succeed. As our recent (October 2024) OFSTED noted, “The energy, determination and tenacity of school leaders and the Trust are bringing about effective and sustained improvements for pupils”.
