What skills and experience we're looking for

Leigh Academy Blackheath has an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of Music! We are looking for an inspiring individual, with a passion across the creative arts who can deliver high-quality learning opportunities for our students in this curriculum area, joining our teaching team from September 2025.

What the school offers its staff

Music at Leigh Academy Blackheath: Our Music department enjoys a new building with two well-equipped music rooms, and several practice rooms that accommodate five peripatetic teachers. These spaces are conveniently located for easy access to the performance area.

Music is an expanding department, filled with opportunity, as new team members will be a part of building and shaping the direction it takes as LAB transitions into its seventh year. As a music specialist, you will not only possess the ability to teach GCSE and IBDP Music but also demonstrate strategic and creative thinking, along with an excellent understanding of music technology. In addition we expect you to make a full contribution to extracurricular activities and school musical events throughout the academic year.

We offer a knowledge and skills rich curriculum with fundamentals underpinning everything we do to ensure students are ready for the next chapter of their music education. LAB’s Music department enjoys the rich and diverse community of SE London and this influences its ethos and culture.
