ECT’s welcome to apply
Start date: September 2026
Place of work: Cambourne Village College, Cambourne, Cambridgeshire
We are seeking to appoint a skilful, enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Music from September 2026 to join our growing department.
You will be joining a well-established, vibrant department with a thriving extra-curricular programme and outstanding provision across all key stages. Students in year 7-9 receive three lessons per fortnight, studying a practical and exciting curriculum that develops skills in both music and music technology.
Music is offered at GCSE (OCR) BTEC Music Practice (Edexcel) A level (Eduqas) and A level Music Technology (Edexcel)
The Performing Arts and Music facilities are impressive, with a purpose-built, 300 seat theatre which holds our concerts and productions. Lessons take place in a newly opened Performing Arts block comprising four classrooms, twelve practice rooms, and a recording studio. Each classroom has a set of keyboards (one between two students), a set of ukeleles (one per student), and classroom percussion.
We are extremely proud of our broad extra-curricular provision. There is a long tradition of producing a high-quality musical each year, for 2026 this has been Everybody’s Talking About Jaime, with recent shows including We Will Rock You, Beauty and the Beast, Addams Family Values and Chicago. Across the year there are multiple music concerts, a large-scale arts festival in summer. Younger students get to shine in our lower-school productions for year 7 and 8 students and next year Sixth form students will host their own production. We also run an orchestra, Junior, Senior and Barbershop choirs, a Jazz band and percussion groups.
Full and part-time applications will be considered. This post is suitable for ECTs or experienced teachers.

Cambourne Village College, an academy of The Cam Academy Trust, opened in brand new premises in September 2013 with just five forms of Year 7 pupils. Serving one of the fastest-growing communities in the UK, we now have more than 1300 pupils on roll, with major further expansion planned, including the opening of our new sixth form centre in September 2024.
The College has enjoyed remarkable success since opening, gaining an early Ofsted Outstanding rating along with designation as a Leading Edge School. Our pupils achieve excellent results in public examinations via a curriculum designed to offer maximum breadth and opportunity for all abilities. Our extra-curricular offer is also outstanding: annual musical drama performances, termly concerts, a wide range of competitive and recreational sporting activities, and many further clubs and events are on offer. In 2019, we were granted the International School Award by the British Council and are looking forward to re-launching our programme of international visits and exchanges this year.
We strive to be a welcoming and inclusive school for our pupils and also to fulfil our Village College ethos in serving the whole community: we support an active adult education programme and more than 30 local groups and organisations make use of the school’s facilities, out of hours. This unusual commitment to our local community was a key factor in our winning a prestigious Silver Award in the ‘Making a Difference’ category of the Pearson School of the Year celebrations in 2018.
