What the school offers its staff
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented teacher to play a key role in shaping the future of the Music Department as it enters its next phase of growth. Since September 2017, the department has been housed in purpose-built facilities that include two fully equipped classrooms—one with dedicated computer workstations—a recording studio, and seven practice rooms.
Music forms an integral part of the Creative Arts Department, alongside Art and Drama. The school is strongly committed to the Creative Arts, and each year the Music Department presents a Winter Concert, a Spring Concert, and the ever popular Battle of the Bands. Every two years, the Music Department collaborates with the Drama and Art departments to stage a full musical production. In 2025, High School Musical was performed.
At Key Stage 4 music is a popular option. The Eduqas syllabus is followed with results above the national average. Music IT is fully used as a tool for learning.
The Department fosters live performance. At the present time, there is an Orchestra, a Jazz Orchestra, a Steel band, a Choir and a Brass band. A number of pupil rock bands and other ensembles are encouraged.
