Teacher of Music job summary

We seek to appoint a Teacher of Music to join the team at George Pindar School. This is a permanent position working 0.2FTE.

The Performing Arts Department at George Pindar School benefits from a suite of dedicated music spaces, including a well-resourced main teaching classroom, three practice rooms, and an IT suite equipped with iMacs to support composition and recording. The department delivers the EDUQAS GCSE Music qualification, which is highly valued by both students and staff. All GCSE Music students receive a weekly lesson with a specialist peripatetic teacher in their chosen discipline, alongside a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including performances in the annual Candlelight Carols concert and events within the local community.

The main focus of the Subject Teacher's role is fostering the learning and progress of the pupils in their care. This involves being an effective teacher of pupils as well as of the subject. Quality of preparation, resourcing, planning, subject expertise, teaching skill, pace, challenge, proactive classroom management, effective marking and assessment, high expectations, and positive personal relationships are all central to providing the conditions within which pupils' personal skills, abilities, understanding, learning and progress can be developed.
