We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of Music to work within our high performing Academy, this position is open to both NQTs and more experienced teachers.
The Music department is a well-resourced curriculum area that delivers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities such as Jazz Band, Choir and African Drumming group. Academic music lessons take place in the music department building which is equipped with a Mac suite, recording studio and multiple practice rooms. Logic and Sibelius software is used from Year 7. GCSE and A-Level uptake is strong with the courses developing the musical skills and interests of students; enabling students to understand and appreciate a range of different kinds of music, across a multitude of cultures and genres.
In KS3 all students follow a programme which provides an introduction to music including the elements such as rhythm, pitch and tempo. There is a strong emphasis on music that is relevant to young people including film music, blues and pop music with pupils undertaking performance and composition tasks in each lesson.
GCSE and A-level students follow the Edexcel specification. We run a three year GCSE course with students being given ample performance and recording opportunities to mature as musicians during this time.
The performing Arts department plan, organise and present various performances throughout the Academy year including an annual musical, performing arts events and fundraising initiatives. It is our vision that the Performing Arts department will be led with someone with a passion for the subject, and the knowledge and expertise to build the department towards its potential.
