Teacher of Music -Part time hours considered job summary

Corby Technical School is seeking a passionate and inspiring Teacher of Music to join our thriving Performing Arts team. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher at any stage of their career to work in a supportive and ambitious school; applications from Early Career Teachers are warmly welcomed and fully supported.

We are looking for someone who believes in the transformative power of music — a teacher who can inspire curiosity, nurture talent, and create a classroom where all students feel confident to participate and perform. You will deliver an engaging and inclusive Music curriculum that places performance, creativity, and cultural diversity at its heart, while also taking an important role in developing, expanding and sustaining a rich extra-curricular offer that extends far beyond the classroom.

At Corby Technical School, Performing Arts is a valued part of school life. Students are creative, enthusiastic, and eager to perform, responding well to high-quality teaching and encouragement. You will have opportunities to contribute to concerts, showcases, and enrichment activities, whether developing your experience or building on an established track record.

The Music department is based in a purpose-built area with practice rooms, storage, and well-equipped teaching spaces. We benefit from excellent resources, including a full samba kit, class sets of instruments, drum kits, electric pianos, a baby grand piano, guitars, and a suite of Apple Macs with MIDI keyboards, GarageBand and Logic Pro. We also have access to technician support across the Trust, particularly for performances and events.

Supported by the Head of Performing Arts and working alongside an experienced music teacher, you will be given the freedom, trust and encouragement to be creative and to innovate. You will be working with students who, within the context of a technical school, thrive on opportunities to express themselves and engage deeply with the arts.

At Corby Technical School, we are committed to developing the most employable students in Corby. We believe in ‘unique learners, unlimited ambition’ and take an asset-based approach to inclusion, recognising and building on the strengths every student brings. In Music, this means developing confident performers and creative thinkers, while equipping students with the transferable skills they need to thrive beyond school.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant school community, develop your practice, and inspire a lifelong love of music in young people.

For the right candidate, part-time working would be considered.

At Corby Technical School we are motivated by:

Supporting our students to become the most employable students they can be and promoting lifelong learning

Providing our students with an ambitious and balanced curriculum, teaching core knowledge to secure foundations to enable excellent progress

Enhancing learning by providing opportunities for students to develop their character and cultural awareness

Teaching the core British values, encouraging students to become moral and confident contributors to society

Inspiring students to be resilient and motivated learners

We strive to embed an excitement and love for Music in all our students. With a curriculum built on developing substantive knowledge and embedding disciplinary knowledge; we look forward to broadening our students’ experiences both in and outside of the classroom.
