Our staff and students benefit from a new state of the art, well equipped College with a theatre, music practice rooms, drama and dance studios, sports block, 3G football pitches, extensive playing fields, multi
use games area, learning resource centre, science labs, Sixth Form area, conference facilities, media suites and our innovative specialist centre for SEND. We have invested heavily in technology and teachers have
access to chrome books to enhance their teaching and learning.
We nurture student’s physical literacy. PE is an essential part of a child’s holistic education and we have a duty to help them be ‘world ready’. We believe that through an engaging curriculum that is broad and balanced our students will cultivate a passion for lifelong learning and enjoyment of PE where they constantly strive to improve. At Key Stage 3 students cover a range of team and individual activities. Our examination courses are popular options and we study OCR Sport Studies at Key Stage 4 and BTEC Sport at Key Stage 5.
We believe PE is more than just being good at sport; it creates opportunities for students to develop their ‘Head, Hands and Heart’. Students should possess communication, leadership and social skills. They should acquire confidence and a positive attitude towards the subject and their peers. Skills and attitudes that will support them in their next stage of learning or employment and for a lifelong participation in sport/physical activity.
We have access to a range of high quality facilities to implement our curriculum and extra-curricular programmes. These include an all-weather 3G pitch, multi-use sportshall, gymnasium, extensive grass areas and a multi games area (MUGA). We are also fortunate to have use of a plethora of table tennis tables, a full class complement of mountain bikes, a full length multi height sportshall net and four trampolines. The department leads many external trips each year. Recent examples include; Ski Trip to Italy, Valencia football tour, Disneyland Paris Netball and Manchester United European football match.
The successful candidate will be an effective classroom practitioner, with excellent interpersonal skills, who will support and contribute to a team ethos capable of driving improvements across the Physical Education Department. They should be adaptable and able to teach across all ages and abilities. In return they will have the opportunity to be part of a vibrant team teaching in a modern and stimulating learning environment.
The successful candidate will play a full part in the life of the school community, will be a form tutor and will contribute to maintaining the strong Catholic character of the school and in fostering the development of students and staff.
