What skills and experience we're looking for

About the Role:

As a PE teacher at Thornden, you will deliver outstanding lessons to students of all abilities, fostering a positive, inclusive, and active learning environment. Working closely with the Head of PE, you will help shape the curriculum, mentor colleagues, and ensure every student has the opportunity to excel. If you take on the Second in Charge role, you will contribute to the leadership of the department, helping to improve teaching practices and manage resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching PE to a high standard across Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Assisting in the development of the PE curriculum.
  • Monitoring and supporting student progress, ensuring achievement is maximised.
  • Maintaining professional standards in line with school policies.
  • Engaging with parents and carers to support student development.
  • Upholding the school’s ethos of creating a safe and supportive environment for all students.
  • Second in Charge duties (if applicable): Support the Head of PE with departmental leadership, contribute to staff development, oversee assessments, and ensure the smooth running of the department in the Head of PE’s absence.
